Gas Fired Aga Cookers

The first gas-fired Aga cooker was released in 1968, shortly after the first oil-fired Aga cooker. Before this time, Aga cookers had been primarily solid fuel. Aga has since discontinued the traditional ‘always on’ gas-fired Aga cookers.

Gas-fired Aga cookers work on the principle of heat transfer from one centralised heat source, in this case, this is a gas burner. The gas-fired Aga cooker radiates this core heat around the whole cast iron body of the cooker including the ovens and hot plates as well as into the room as ambient warmth. It is designed to be kept running at an optimum temperature 24/7.

All gas-fired Aga cooker models require a flue, whether that is a conventional flue, balanced flue or a power flue.

As with the 13 Amp and oil-fired models, the gas-fired Aga cookers arrive as a ‘flatpack’ in all its component parts. This means you would need to budget around £600 for the build and commission of this cooker.

For those looking to invest in the latest technology and energy efficiency, the new generation Control Series electric Aga cookers may be a more suitable option. The modern models offer improved energy efficiency, advanced features with increased controllability, and the same high-quality cooking experience that Aga cookers are renowned for.
