Oil Fired Aga Cookers

The first oil-fired Aga cooker was introduced in 1964, followed by the launch of the first gas-fired model in 1968. Before this time, Aga cookers had been primarily solid fuel. Aga has since discontinued all oil-fired Aga cookers.

Oil-fired Aga cookers work on the principle of heat transfer from one centralised heat source, in this case, a vaporising wick burner. This core heat is radiated around the whole cast iron body of the cooker including the ovens and hot plates as well as into the room as ambient warmth. It is designed to be kept running at an optimum temperature 24/7.

Both 2 oven and 4 oven oil-fired Aga cookers require a flue, whether that is a conventional flue or a back flue.

As with the 13 Amp and gas models, the oil-fired Aga cookers arrive as a ‘flatpack’ in all its component parts. This means you would need to budget around £600 for the build and commission of this cooker. They also require a separate plinth for the cooker to stand on.
