Electric Aga Cookers

New Generation Control Series Electric Aga Cookers

Since the discontinuation of its traditional “always on” models, including the 13-amp electric, gas-fired, and oil-fired cookers, Aga has shifted its focus to the next generation of all-electric cookers: the Control Series.

The various models within the Control Series offer enhanced functionality and flexibility. Each cooker is designed to reduce running costs while suiting your lifestyle.

Electric Aga cookers are clean burning, allowing them to ventilate directly into the room rather than through a flue, this gives you greater flexibility meaning the cooker can be placed anywhere in the room.

With the ability to turn ovens and hotplates on and off as needed, the Control Series Aga cookers are more controllable, helping you regulate energy use and tailor your cooking experience.

Unlike traditional Aga cooker models that arrive in component form, these newer models are delivered as a fully built unit with an inbuilt plinth, negating the need for additional costs for installation.

The new generation of electric Aga cookers we have available are the Total Control, Dual Control, R7, ER7, R3 and ER3. These Aga cookers boast the latest technology whilst encompassing everything we love about traditional Aga cookers.

Below is a small summary to help guide you in your choice as to which new generation electric Aga cooker is best for you. All of these have varying levels of flexibility, which aim to reduce running costs and suit your lifestyle.

Fully electric, the Total Control Aga cooker is part of the new generation Control Series.

Offering fast heat up times and controllability, this cooker suits modern-day living whilst keeping running costs low.

The Total Control Aga cooker is the predecessor of the eR7 model, boasting many of the same features and functionalities. This is a genuine Aga cooker and has not been modified from any other fuel type.

The Total Control offers versatility and reduced running costs. With its individually controlled ovens and hotplates, whether you are cooking for large family gatherings or quick and easy midweek meals, the Total Control model gives you the freedom to choose how much of the cooker you want in use at any one time.

Manually controlled using the easy-to-use touch screen or pre-programmed with the remote handset, you can decide when to have the cooker on or off to help reduce costs. The ovens can also be put into the lower “slumber” mode when not in use which reduces heat up times, meaning your ovens can be ready in no time at all.

The Total Control Aga cooker provides radiant heat through your home whilst also costing up to 50% less to run than traditional electric Aga cookers and, for the summer months, the oven even features a low energy setting.

This cooker is available in 3 or 5 oven models and allows you to control each individual oven and hotplate separately, at a set temperature. The cooker can be left in ‘slumber’ or at full temperature.

The hotplates are to be turned on as and when required. The ovens can also be switched off when not in use. The slumber mode reduces the oven heat up times as they are not having to heat up from stone cold. The heat up times are as follows: ovens 45 mins from cold, 25 mins from slumber, hotplates 10 minutes.

The Dual Control Aga cooker is part of the new generation Control Series. This cooker offers flexibility and reduced running costs whilst retaining the gentle warmth Aga cookers are famed for.

The Dual Control is designed to provide a cosy feel and readily available cooking facility.

This cooker is the predecessor of the R7 model, boasting many of the same features and functionalities. This cooker is a genuine Aga cooker and has not been modified from any other fuel type.

Offering the best of both worlds, the Dual Control Aga cooker has the traditional cast-iron ovens which are always available for use, with independently controlled hotplates which can be turned on and off as required.

The dual control Aga cooker is available in 3 or 5 oven models. The ovens are designed to be left “ON” continuously so that they are ready to cook on and offer 24/7 radiant heat into the room.

All 3 or 5 ovens can be run at full temperature or in “economy mode” which reduces overall heat output and energy consumption. The ovens take approx. 8/9 hours to heat up from cold, the hotplates again take only 10 minutes. There is the option to have an all-electric dual control and a dual-fuel dual control which needs both an electric and gas supply.

The R7 series Aga Cookers are fully electric making them controllable, easy-to-use and offer a host of refined features for flexible cooking. ‘R’ stands for ‘Radiant Heat’ of the cast-iron oven cooking.

The ovens are designed to be left on, so that they are always available for use and provide a gentle warmth to keep your kitchen cosy. The R7 model Aga Cookers feature ovens for baking, roasting and simmering. This range has been designed to be simple to use and offers flexibility. The R7 model features a clear, easy-to-use control panel and offers four different temperature settings for flexibility and energy saving, including a low mode and a high temperature option to provide a boost when you need it.

‘E’ stands for ‘everyday’ meaning that the Aga cooker is controllable and can be set to heat up and cool down on an everyday basis, and ‘R’ stands for ‘Radiant Heat’ cast-iron oven cooking.

The Aga cooker ER7 series range has been designed to remain on all of the time, however it offers fast heat up times and the flexibility for each oven to be used independently enabling you to achieve lower running costs.

With a capacitance type touch control panel, multiple heat settings for the roasting and baking ovens and also separate controls for the hotplates, the ER7 cooker suits modern day living. The new generation Aga cookers come with removable door linings that can even go in the dishwasher.

The R3 series is a contemporary style of Aga cooker that runs more like the traditional Aga cookers that we know and love. Being on 24/7, it is the perfect fit if you are looking for that cosy warmth in your kitchen but with some added flexibility. With simple controls and a lower-power electrical connection, this cooker gives added functionality whilst keeping running costs down.

For times when you don’t need your cooker but don’t want to switch it off, the R3 series models offer a useful e-setting which works to reduce the temperature of the ovens, helping you to lower the energy you use and limit running costs. It only takes 1 hour to heat the R3 Series back to full temperature from the e-setting.

The 3 series cookers come with an induction hob, however the R3 model also has the option of twin cast-iron hotplates if you prefer the traditional Aga cooker look.

The ER3 series Aga cookers combine both cast-iron radiant heat cooking and conventional cooking. The mix of ovens, hotplates and an induction hob mean you have a cooker for all seasons and one that makes it very easy to manage energy usage. Quick heat-up times are a benefit of the ER3 series as this cooker uses a standard 32amp cooker circuit and one or two 13amp connections to enable quicker heat-up than the R3 models.

The ER3 series provides that much loved warmth into your home but offers more controllability than traditional Aga cooker models. All ER3 Series models have two cast-iron heat storage ovens, one that can be used for roasting or baking, the other for simmering. This range also offers a state-of-the-art two or three-zone induction hob.

The traditional 13 amp electric Aga cooker was first released in 2004 and has since been discontinued by Aga.

This cooker uses an electrical element to heat its cast iron ovens and hotplates. Designed to be left ON continuously, this cooker is ready to cook on at all times, but also gives out constant radiant heat into the kitchen.

While the 13 amp electric Aga cooker offers the warmth and functionality that many users love about Aga cookers, it is important to consider the operational costs. The higher energy consumption can lead to increased running expenses over time, making this model extremely costly to run.

As with the oil and gas models, the 13 amp electric aga cookers arrive as a ‘flatpack’ in all its component parts. This means you would need to budget around £600 for the build and commission of this cooker.

For those looking to invest in the latest technology and energy efficiency, the new generation  Control Series electric Aga cookers may be a more suitable option. The modern models offer improved energy efficiency, advanced features with increased controllability, and the same high-quality cooking experience that Aga cookers are renowned for.
