Finding Charlie Gray the Perfect Reconditioned Aga Cooker

 

We are thrilled to have recently collaborated with Ask Charlie How, a well-known lifestyle expert who has built a reputation for creating a beautifully curated, cosy, and functional home. Charlie is passionate about homemaking and shares her expertise through her social media channels and YouTube videos, where she offers practical advice on everything from interior styling to cooking and entertaining. She really is the go to women for anything home related!

Early in 2024, Charlie approached us to enquire about putting a reconditioned Aga cooker in her new home. We were more than happy to oblige!

It all started when Charlie got in touch with us to enquire about the advantages of purchasing a reconditioned Aga cooker. Charlotte, one of our knowledgeable directors spent time on the phone with Charlie to better understand her lifestyle and see what model would best suit her.

Charlie has always had Aga cookers in her family home and is very familiar with cooking on a traditional Aga cooker. Charlie explained that although she has the option of running her Aga cooker on LPG gas she would prefer to install an electric Aga cooker. Charlie made it clear that she would like a model that replicates what she knows and loves about Aga cooking. Something that offered her ready available cooking facility and radiant warmth into the home. After discussing the various options, Charlotte and Charlie agreed the most suitable model would be a reconditioned electric Dual Control.

How Does A Dual Control Aga Cooker Work?

The Dual Control Aga cooker is a 24/7 radiant heat model, providing gentle heat into your home. Offering the best of both worlds, the Dual Control Aga cooker has the traditional cast-iron ovens which are always available for use, with independently controlled hotplates which can be turned on and off as required. Designed to be left constantly on, the ovens boast roasting, baking and simmering functions. All of the ovens can be run at full temperature or in “economy mode” which reduces overall heat output and energy consumption. The Dual Control is just one of the new generation Control Series Aga Cookers that offer controllability and flexibility to suit modern lifestyles.

Choosing a Colour 

The next decision for Charlie was choosing an enamel colour for her newly reconditioned Aga cooker. In case you didn’t already know, we newly enamel our cookers in any of our 25 different Aga cooker colour options, meaning the choice is completely up to the customer! Charlie explained that she would like a traditional looking Aga cooker to go in her farmhouse kitchen. We sent enamel samples to Charlie, so that she could make her final decision. Charlie set her heart on Cream, a classic and favourite Aga cooker colour that has been around since the beginning. This classic Aga cooker colour is a warm, clotted cream shade and works beautifully in both traditional and modern spaces.

Delivery & Installation

Charlie went ahead and placed her order for a reconditioned Dual Control Aga cooker for her new home. At this point, we agreed a suitable delivery date and put Charlie’s reconditioned Aga cooker into production. Prior to delivery, we spoke with Charlie to ensure she had the right electrical connection ready for installation.

On the day of delivery, our own friendly team of inhouse experts Sean and Pete set off down south to Charlie’s home. They arrived first thing in the morning and began unloading the cooker and setting it up in place. Unlike traditional Aga cookers that arrive in component form and require an Aga engineer to build the cooker on site, the Dual Control model arrives as a fully built unit with an inbuilt plinth.

Once Pete and Sean had carefully maneuvered the cooker into place while taking great care of Charlie’s property, they completed the final electrical connections. Once the cooker was on and ready to work, they ensured Charlie was completely satisfied with her reconditioned Dual Control before asking for payment. This may seen unusual in this day and age but as a traditional family-run business, Range Exchange are proud to offer payment only on delivery once. We like to say that we bring the showroom to you!
