Selling your Aga - Removal Guide
Selling your Aga is easy with Range Exchange and our exclusive removal guide.
Whatever your reason for selling your Aga cooker, parting ways isn’t an easy decision.
These cookers aren’t just appliances — they’re anchors of the kitchen, often with years of stories baked in.
But there’s a thriving second-hand market for Aga cookers, since brand-new models are out of many would-be Aga owners’ budgets.
With the right knowledge, you can turn your precious Aga into money, without lifting a finger.

Why Sell Your Aga Cooker?
As beloved as Agas are, there are plenty of reasons why someone might decide it’s time to move on…
- Changing energy needs: Traditional Aga cookers run on gas, oil, or solid fuel. They’re less efficient (and more costly) than modern alternatives. New electric models are easier to control and cheaper to run. Despite that, we do have an Aga gas model range that remains popular – there’s a somewhat nostalgic feel to them, and some people prefer not relying on electricity to cook. It’s a real bonus during power cuts.
- Kitchen renovation: Agas take up a lot of space. If you’re redesigning your kitchen with a more minimal or contemporary feel, you might find your Aga doesn’t fit.
- Lifestyle changes: Maybe you’re cooking less. Or moving house. Or downsizing. Or you’re just tired of the always-on heat in summer.
Whatever your reason, rest assured — you’re not alone. Hundreds of people in the UK sell their Agas annually, and Range Exchange is ready to take yours off your hands. You can take a look at the models we buy here.
Can You Actually Sell a Second-Hand Aga?
Absolutely. It’s easy to sell an Aga second-hand.
These cookers are famously well-built. Many can last for decades with the right care. Even older models from the 1970s or ‘80s still work like new and hold their value, especially if they’ve been kept in good condition.
At Range Exchange, we specialise in Aga reconditioning and are constantly on the lookout for high-quality used models. We strip them down, clean them, replace parts, repaint or re-enamel them, add a glossy finish, and resell them to new customers.
If you’ve got an electric Aga (like the Total Control), you could be looking at even more value, especially if it’s in a rare colour.
What Affects the Resale Value of an Aga Cooker?
-
1
Age – Newer models usually have a higher value; older Agas have value if they're well-kept.
-
2
Fuel type – Electric Agas are in higher demand. Oil and gas models are slightly less popular but still valuable.
-
3
Condition – Scratches, chips, rust, and general wear will impact the price.
-
4
Model and size – Aga cookers come in 2-oven, 3-oven, and 4-oven formats. Larger ones can sell for more but are harder to remove and resell.
-
5
Colour – Classic cream and black models are common. Unique shades like duck egg blue and pewter look incredible, but they are rare in comparison.
-
6
Location – Some buyers factor in travel or removal logistics when making an offer. At Range Exchange, we run a hassle-free Aga removal service for sellers and deliver the refurbished model to new buyers.
Step-by-Step: How to Sell An Aga Cooker
We’ve made how to sell an Aga easy. Here’s how the Range Exchange process usually works from start to finish.
Step 1: Get a Valuation
You can contact us using the online form on our Sell Your Aga page. We’ve developed a simple 3-step process to make it easier for our customers.
Simply upload two clear photos (a minimum of one), fill in your personal and contact details, and provide us with any additional information about your cooker, like make, model, scratches, chips, and dents. If you’re unsure what model you have, we can, most of the time, identify it from photos.
Our free online valuation form is quick, easy, and hassle-free. You can also call us directly if you’d prefer, with our contact details found on our Get In Touch page.
Step 2: Review Your Offer
Once you’ve submitted your cooker information, we’ll review your offer. You’ll receive a competitive, no-obligation offer if we know we can collect and refurbish your Aga cooker. This step won’t take long, typically only a few days.
Step 3: Book an Aga Removal Service
Happy with the offer? Great — now it’s time to book the removal.
We will schedule a collection date that suits you. We have a flexible calendar and can typically collect shortly after you receive your quote.
Collections are typically handled by our professional removals team, usually two people, who come with all the correct removal equipment.
Step 4: Cooker Removal Day and the Process
On the day, you don’t need to do much — but it’s helpful to be ready. Here’s what usually happens:
- Once you have your removal date confirmed, we’ll send some instructions, such as requesting you turn it off the day before but don’t disconnect the power. We’ll also give you an ETA the day before so you know when to expect us.
- The team will arrive with the removal equipment needed to safely extract your Aga cooker without causing damage to your home or the cooker itself.
- They’ll assess access — if it’s straightforward, they’ll get started right away. We advise customers to check there’s 100% clear access before our team arrives.
- The Aga removal process is smooth and simple. We will remove it into manageable sections (usually top plates, ovens, doors, flue, etc.).
- All parts are wrapped, padded, and safely removed.
- The process usually takes between 1 to 2 hours.
- With Range Exchange, you don’t need to worry about removal day. We’ve perfected the process to ensure our customers feel completely at ease. It’s a hands-off approach for you and a precise one for us.
Step 5: Payment
Payment usually happens the same day, either cash in hand or direct bank transfer. Most of our customers prefer direct bank transfers. We’ll always confirm the payment terms and details ahead of time.
Note: payment won’t be released until the Aga is successfully removed and we’ve checked the condition is as stated on the evaluation form upon arriving at your home, but it will be made at the time of collection.
What to Do Before Collection Day
-
1
Clear a path: Make sure the team can move freely from the cooker to the front door.
-
2
Don't disconnect the fuel: If your Aga runs on gas or oil, it must be disconnected by a qualified engineer. If it’s electric, turn it off, but do nothing else.
-
3
Don't clean the cooker: You don’t need to go clean the cooker any more than you typically would. Our team will meticulously clean your model when it arrives back at our factory.
-
4
Take some photos: Keep a record for your peace of mind.
FAQs
Can I sell a broken Aga?
Yes! Even non-working Agas have value as spare parts. You’ll likely get less, but it’s still worth getting a quote.
Do I need to remove the cooker myself?
No. The removal team will handle everything. In fact, it’s better if you don’t touch it beforehand other than the clear, pre-stated instructions.
Will my floor be damaged during removal?
No. Our removal specialists are highly trained professionals, and we use industry-leading equipment to ensure no damage to your floor or home.
Can I sell my Aga privately?
Yes — but you’ll need to arrange removal and delivery yourself. Selling to a specialist is usually quicker and safer.
